The Rebirth of the Seletar Golf Course
Memorable landscapes with natural beauty
We witnessed the rebirth of the sparkling new 18-hole gem in Seletar Country Club in April 2020, after an 18 months makeover. The immaculately groomed course has a unique British isle flavour that is also environmentally dramatic, with excellent attention to detail. Rolling acres of lush greenery are livened up with enhanced water features to add a touch of tranquillity and memorability.
More water elements were incorporated to highlight the natural landscape while creating a relaxing atmosphere. Golfers can look forward to playing against the unique backdrop of the dramatic waterfall at the iconic Hole 7. Holes 3 and 15, two par-4 holes affectionately known as the Twin Jewels, was creatively designed to run parallel to each other. A water feature sitting behind the green at Hole 18 uplifts the spirits of golfers upon their triumphant return.
Combining challenge and playability
Emphasis on making the most of the natural undulating terrain gave birth to a course filled with tricks, yet breathtaking in its beauty. The new design creates many strategic options on how to approach each hole, based on golfers’ abilities or level of aggressiveness chosen. The golf course can be set up and presented in many different ways just by changing the tee and pin placement, and is sure to pose a challenge to golfers of all levels. It brings excitement to those who try to make par on the course, yet leaves room for others to delight in its beauty.
Intelligent planning with sustainable maintenance
Our use of one of the most advanced irrigation system in Asia allows for efficient water usage. Being the first golf course in Singapore to use the Zoysia Zeon turf grass will also place us at the forefront of sustainable course maintenance well into the future, and ensure that we will be drought-resistant with efficient operating costs for many years to come. The new bunkers are even more aesthetically pleasing and equipped to keep moisture levels optimal, eliminating common maintenance and playability problems.
Indeed, the new course is a distinguished step-up from the original Seletar course which was a result of the great vision of its founding members. Situated next to the tranquil locale of the Lower Seletar Reservoir, the clear glistening waters enhances the overall splendour of the course.
